NBA DFS Picks: Top DraftKings, FanDuel Value Plays for Wednesday (10/19)
Last night was the first night of the NBA season.
Tonight, all other teams will be playing their first games of the regular season.
We don't have many data points for the first couple of days. But we'll use last year's data and our brains for the time being.
Here are the top DFS value plays and picks for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Point Guards
Terry Rozier
- FanDuel: $7,200
Kevin Porter
- DraftKings: $6,500
Terry Rozier will get the start at point guard for the Hornets. Charlotte's roster is underwhelming right now, with Kelly Obru, Gordon Hayward, PJ Washington, and Mason Plumlee in the starting lineup. Rozier figures to be a massive portion of this offense.
Meanwhile, Kevin Porter Jr. is heavily liked in Houston. He's expected to run the show for the Rockets against Atlanta tonight. The Rockets have so much depth that he can get cooking and become a box-score stuffer simultaneously.
Shooting Guards
Cade Cunningham
- FanDuel: $7,900
Jalen Green
- DraftKings: $5,400
With Cade Cunningham, FanDuel gives you the luxury of putting him at shooting guard. Cunningham will soon be a walking triple-double with his body frame and potential. Right now, he's a 20-5-5 guy but eventually will start to lead Detroit in other statistics as well. This could be a breakout season.
I love the Rockets' guards. Jalen Green scored 17.3 points per game last year and will likely be the leading scorer for the Rockets this season, with Christian Wood out of the picture.
Small Forwards
Desmond Bane
- FanDuel: $6,300
Kelly Oubre
- DraftKings: $5,500
Desmond Bane was surprised last season, earning over 18 points per game. He was also cleaning up on the glass, with 4.4 rebounds and added 2.7 assists. Bane is more than a three-pointer shooter but knowing he can hit threes consistently makes things even better.
Kelly Oubre will get the start for the Hornets alongside Terry Rozier. He averaged 15 points per game last season while bringing down four rebounds. His role will be more significant for the Hornets this season. I'm not saying he'll average 20 points per game. But I'm also not saying he won't.
Power Forwards
Keldon Johnson
- DraftKings: $5,900
Paolo Banchero
- FanDuel: $6,000
The Spurs are in tank mode. But the players on the court are still going to play hard. Keldon Johnson's the Spurs' best player. He'll be featured the most, and with tonight's game labeled as a pick-em, you don't have to worry about a potential blowout.
Meanwhile, Paolo Banchero could come in on his debut and score 20 points in 30 minutes. He already added nearly 20 points in 27 minutes of preseason action. Banchero's got all of the talent in the world. Add him into your lineup before his price rises.
Centers
Isaiah Stewart
- DraftKings: $5,400
Jarrett Allen
- FanDuel: $7,100
The Pistons have so much young talent, and Isaiah Stewart is one of those guys. This year, he's got a potential ceiling of averaging a double-double. If we can get a double-double out of Stewart, I'll take it at that price.
Last season, Jarrett Allen surprised many folks by earning an All-Star bid. He scored 16.1 points per game and added over ten rebounds per game. Donovan Mitchell played well with Rudy Gobert throughout his time in Utah. At least on the offensive end, things could be the same when he plays with Allen.
