Philadelphia Odds: Sportsbooks Believe Both the Eagles and 76ers Can Win Championships in 2023
Never before in the history of the NFL and NBA has the same city won both the Super Bowl and NBA Finals in the same year. Philadelphia has a real shot to become the first according to the sportsbooks.
Titletown Odds
The Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia 76ers are given +2000 odds, or an implied 4.8% chance to take home both the Vince Lombardi and Larry O’Brien trophies. While those odds may seem small, compare them to the rest of the market.
The Chicago White Sox to win the American League and Chicago Bulls to make the playoffs are given +4500 odds or an implied 2.2% chance. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Rays to win the NHL and MLB titles are given +5000 or an implied 2% chance. Houston to win the NCAA and MLB titles are given +6000 or an implied 1.6% chance. All the longest of longshots.
But is Philly to take home two titles? That one has a realistic chance.
Plenty of cities have become title towns by winning more than one title in a season. Nobody has ever won the two biggest titles in North American sports in the same season though. Philadelphia has a chance to become the first.
With the Eagles already competing for a title and the 76ers are arguably the hottest team in the NBA. Can Philly become the first city to claim titles in both the NFL and NBA? The books are buying into the possibility.
