The Iona Gaels are one of only three mid-major schools to have an active consecutive years NCAA tournament streak, joining Gonzaga and Loyola-Chicago. Oddsmakers don’t expect that streak to be broken.

When you think about NCAA Tournament odds and recent dominance, Iona isn't necessarily the first school that comes to mind. However, they've been a force to be reckoned with in the MAAC.

Iona is given -110 odds, or an implied 52.4% chance to win the MAAC tournament after dominating conference play. Their biggest competition is Saint Peter’s, who’s given +320 odds, or an implied 23.8% chance to go dancing for the first time since 2011.

Fourth seed Monmouth is the dark horse in this tournament. They’re given +650 odds, or an implied 13.3% chance to take home the title. Meanwhile, the MAAC champions who weren’t in 2020, Sienna, are given +2200 odds, 6th best on the market, despite being the #3 seed in the tournament.

It’s rare for a school like Iona to dominate a conference as thoroughly as they do. The biggest reason is because when a team is that good they don’t stay in the conference for that long. Yet, here Iona stands in the MAAC. Oddsmakers believe that Iona is close to a lock in this tournament, but they aren’t willing to discount the field entirely.
