Michigan March Madness Odds: Are the Wolverines a Threat To Make a Run in the South?

Many critics and fans believed Michigan didn't deserve a chance to compete in the NCAA Tournament. But despite what everyone else believes, the committee added Michigan as an 11-seed in the South Region. Michigan will take on Colorado State in the first round as an 11 seed facing a 6 seed. If Michigan pulls off the light upset, the Wolverines would likely have to take on Tennessee in the Round of 32. Below are some of the odds on Michigan, if you're looking to bet them.

First Round Game

Spread: Michigan -2.5 (-105) (Bet $105 to Win $100) Moneyline (-140) vs. 6. Colorado State (Bet $140 to Win $100)

Although Michigan is an 11 seed facing a 6 seed, the Wolverines are favorites by 2.5 points. Of course, Michigan could absolutely go on a run in March Madness and prove everyone wrong about the state of Michigan basketball. After all, the Wolverines are still one of the best offenses in the nation, shooting 34% from deep and 53% from inside. Colorado State has struggled to defend inside, giving up 50.5% of shots inside the arc this season. On the other hand, Colorado State can shoot lights out but if those shots are missed, offensive rebounds will be hard to come by. Michigan doesn't earn turnovers but they can absolutely dominate the defensive glass. Michigan's defense hasn't forced tough shots but if Colorado State has the jitters early, Michigan could absolutely escape with a win.

Final Four

Michigan +1800 (Bet $100 to Win $1800)

Michigan, as an 11 seed, has an extremely hard road to the Final Four. But let's not act like Michigan wasn't a top-five team coming into the season. The talent level is there for Michigan. The offense is elite and the defense can at least rebound off misses when a team is having a poor shooting night. I still highly doubt that Michigan can get past the Sweet 16 if the Wolverines have to face Villanova or even Loyola Chicago.

National Championship

Michigan +12000 (Bet $100 to Win $12000)

In the South, Michigan is better than some of the teams rated ahead of them. However, Arizona, Villanova, Tennessee, Illinois, Houston, and maybe Loyola Chicago all have the upper hand when it comes to winning the National Championship and coming out of the South Region as champs. However, I'll continue to say this. Michigan is the most talented 11-seed you'll find.
