Kansas vs UNC: WHO TO TAKE IN TONIGHT'S GAME
The safe bet is to take Kansas based on their performances in the latter stages of this tournament, but with a guaranteed bonus from FanDuel promo code, is there value in taking the underdogs here?
No.1 seed Kansas are unsurprisingly favorites against No.8 seed, North Carolina, but the latter have overcome the odds all tournament and will not go away easily.
Despite a disappointing start to the season, the Tar Heels have made it to the Championship Game. They closed their season out with an 11-2 run and a 13-point victory over Duke, to hand Coach Krzyzewski a loss in his final home game, and it was the same opponents they beat in the Final Four to make it here.
While North Carolina have overachieved, Kansas are where they were expected to be, but they had their rough moments early on. Like all good tournament teams though, they turned it on in the Elite Eight and Final Four games, to take confidence into this final game.
Kansas were too strong for Villanova last time, playing strong defense and producing an impressive scoring output, shooting 13-24 (54.2%) from three-point range.
David McCormack was on fire against Villanova, making use of his size differential, but might face a tougher task against Armando Bacot. Bacot did get injured and into foul trouble Saturday, which the trio of McCormack, Jalen Wilson and Mitch Lightfoot will look to exploit.
Brady Manek has been a reliable scorer for North Carolina and is familiar with Kansas due to his time at Oklahoma.
In the end, it may come down to the scoring of Kansas's Ochai Agbaji who continues to prove his status at the teams' best player, and North Carolina's Caleb Love, who scored 28 against Duke and 30 in the Sweet 16 win over UCLA.
North Carolina need their top performers to be at their best to compete with Kansas. With Bacot likely to play, North Carolina will rally around the trio of Bacot, Love and Manek to try and match Kansas' offense.
