UNC vs Kansas Odds: North Carolina Given a 36% Chance to Upset Kansas
A No. 8 seed making it to the final is almost unheard of. In fact, you have to go back to 1985 when Villanova upset Georgetown for the last time there was a No. 8 seed that won the NCAA Tournament.
The last time the Tar Heels won a tournament was in 2017 and they've won six times in the school's history. Kansas, another basketball powerhouse is no stranger to the NCAA Tournament either.
The last time Kansas has won a Tournament was in 2008, and they have three titles in their history but they are a team that is always in the mix. They've made the Final Four three times since 2012.

The implied chance for UNC to pull the upset is 36.36 percent. In order for them to pull something like this off, in a game where they are underdogs, the first thing is that you can't have a hangover from the previous round. Beating your biggest rival and ending Coach K's career at Duke is a great accomplishment for this team, but if you look too deep into it, it can become a distraction and instead keep you from focusing on Kansas. We've seen it with teams all the time where they have a big win the round before and then come out flat the following round.

Also, you need your best players to show out. Caleb Love has been great for UNC in the tournament, he needs another big performance like he had against Duke on Saturday. Your compliment pieces, like Brady Manek, also need to continue to play at a high level for you to even keep it tight with a team like Kansas.
The UNC offense has been good all year long and at times can be downright dominant. In order for them to pull the upset, they need that kind of performance again from their top scorers against a Kansas team that comes off as very even-keeled.
