Every Team's Odds to Win the NCAA Tournament: Kansas Co-Favorites to Win Back-to-Back Titles

It's the best time of year, as March Madness is finally here. 68 teams will begin their quest tonight as the first play-in games commence this evening. Just hours before the tip of the opening game, let's take a closer look at each school's odds of cutting down the nets in Houston, Texas, on April 3!

The number one overall seed in the tournament is Nate Oats' Alabama Crimson Tide. With perhaps the best resume of any of the 68 tournament hopefuls, the Tide head into March with wins over (at the time) ranked opponents in the form of Michigan State, UConn, North Carolina, Houston, Gonzaga, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas A&M. The final of which, was to secure the SEC Tournament Title, which earned the squad the top overall seed after Houston was upset by Memphis in the AAC Final on Sunday afternoon.

Bill Self's Kansas Jayhawks are oddsmakers co-favorites to win their second consecutive National Championship. After an extremely rough stretch to begin the 2023 calendar year, the defending champions found their groove and would only lose to Texas (twice) since their January 23 loss to the Baylor Bears. While being one of the hottest teams in the country, Kansas heads into the tournament after being blown out by Texas in the Big-12 Title Game this past Sunday afternoon.

Purdue head into the tournament as one of the most intriguing teams in the nation. The Big-10 Champions seemingly righted the ship before the tournament as they ran through Rutgers, Ohio State, and Penn. State to claim the conference's title. However, before their conference title run, the Boilermakers were a mediocre 4-4 in their final eight games of the regular season, dropping to the likes of Indiana (twice), Northwestern, and Maryland.

If your favorite school isn't in the tournament, for whatever reason, the UConn Huskies are your likeliest favorite come tournament time. Dan Hurley's Huskies have one of the most impressive resumes of any of the 68 tournament teams, holding victories over the top-seeded Alabama Crimson Tide in addition to other tournament teams in the form of Iowa State, Creighton, Marquette, and Providence (twice). With UConn just being an outright good Basketball team, you can NEVER count out the Huskies when March rolls around.

The pre-season favorites to win it all in 2023 were Mark Few's Gonzaga Bulldogs. While the Zags struggled out of the gate, losing three of their first eight games of the season, Few's squad has seemingly righted the ship as of late. The Bulldogs head into the tournament on the back of nine consecutive victories, the final two of which were to secure the WCC Championship.

The Duke Blue Devils will be in the NCAA Tournament without Coach K for the first time since the 1979 edition of the tournament. After Coach K's retirement at the end of last season, former star guard Jon Scheyer took over in Durham. The first year without Coach K certainly hasn't come without its blemishes, but all in all, an ACC Championship, which earned the Blue Devils a five-seed in this year's tournament, is certainly just what the doctor ordered for the Duke faithful.
