Jake Paul The Heavy Favorite To Beat Ben Askren
He's one of the biggest stars on YouTube and now Jake Paul is looking to become one of the biggest names in the fight game.
For the past few years Jake Paul's move into combat sports has been mocked and laughed at but his performances have improved and now he's now the favorite to beat former UFC star Ben Askren when they meet in April.
Jake Paul is the bookmakers favorite at -280 and since the betting started he's been the most popular choice amongst OddsChecker users. 52.68% of the public are betting Jake Paul to beat Askren, and even more impressive is that 77.41% of the money staked has been on the 24-year from Ohio.
Ben Askren is behind Jake Paul in every possible metric leading up to the fight. The sportsbooks don't fancy him and have him priced at +195 and the majority of the public are fading him too. Askren retired from MMA in November 2019 but was lured out to fight Jake Paul after the two went back-and-forth on social media.
Askren, despite winning 19 of his 22 MMA fights, is considered the underdog because his style is that of a wrestler and he isn't a knockout artist. He'll be hoping to upset the odds when they meet in the boxing ring on April 17.
The world of mixed martial arts is hoping for a Ben Askren win with UFC star Leon Edwards saying that "It's going to be bad for MMA" if Paul wins, which is what Edwards believes will happen, stating that the YouTuber will "chin" Askren.
