Jake Paul vs Ben Askren Odds & Betting Preview: Who Is Ben Askren?

If you don’t know who Jake Paul is, you must have been living under a rock, however, it’s understandable if you are unsure who his opponent is, Ben Askren.

Ben Askren is a former UFC star, probably most famous for being KO’d by UFC star Jorge Masvidal in under five seconds. Even though Askren is best known for that knockout, he’s no schmuck in the ring.

Ben Askren has been fighting for years, the Hartland native is a two-time NCAA Division 1 Champion, and was a competitor on the 2008 Olympic freestyle wrestling team. Ben Askren had an incredibly successful amateur career before becoming a world champion in two organisations, Bellator and One FC.

Ben Askren’s UFC career came late on, and was plagued by injuries, these injuries eventually made him retire on November 18, 2019.

Ben Askren loves his wrestling and hosts weekly podcasts, and like many other people in the US is mad on cryptocurrency.

Ben Askren’s Record

Despite being made famous by that Jorge Masvidal knock-out, Ben Askren’s record is pretty impressive, as he’s racked up a professional record of 19-2. Six of his wins came via KO/TKO.

Ben Askren has two losses to his name, one came by knockout and the other by submission. As mentioned he has six wins via KO/TKO, six via submission and seven by decision.

Askren won the ONE Welterweight Championship against Nobutatsu Suzuki in Dubai back in 2014. Previously he won the Bellator Welterweight Championship against Lyman Good at Bellator 33 in 2010.

Ben Askren is now 36, and has injury concerns, but Ben Askren’s record should be respected heading into the Jake Paul fight.

Ben Askren was last seen at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs Askren in Singapore, where he was beaten by Damian Maia. His last win came against Robbie Lawlor at UFC 235 in 2019, which was the fight before that Jorge Masvidal loss.

Jake Paul was made the betting favorite when the odds opened up, however, Ben Askren’s odds have been shortening ever since. See the full Jake Paul vs Ben Askren odds below.
