A pair of top 15 fights headline Saturday night’s UFC card as the promotion makes its return to Las Vegas, NV. The co-main event features #10 Neil Magny squaring off against #15 Shavkat Rakhmonov while the main event stars #11 Arman Tsarukyan and #12 Mateusz Gamrot in a lightweight bout. But before we get to the numbered fights, the main card gets underway with a middleweight showdown between Chris Curtis and Rodolfo Vieira.
Let’s dive into each fighter’s recent history, statistics, and the odds for the opening fight on the main card.
Chris Curtis vs. Rodolfo Vieira
CHRIS CURTIS (28-8-0)
They don’t call him “Action-Man” for nothing. The American-born brawler enters with three UFC fights under his belt and he’s boasting a rate of 7.21 significant strikes landed per minute while absorbing an average of 6.64 strikes per minute.
The game plan for Curtis is a simple one, he’s going to stand in the pocket and try to knock you out. So far, it’s worked out well as Action-Man’s 3-0 in the octagon with a trio of knockouts. Most recently, a knee to the chin put Brendan Allen to sleep in the second round back in December of 2021. Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Curtis has a 100% takedown defense rate as he’ll square off against a takedown master in Rodolfo Vieira on Saturday.
RODOLFO VIEIRA (8-1-0)
Vieira is 3-1 in the UFC with his lone loss coming back in February of 2021. He was outstruck 32-9 in the losing effort and was ultimately finished via guillotine choke by Anthony Hernandez in the second round. The Brazilian national bounced back in July of 2021 by submitting Dustin Stoltzfus with a rear-naked choke in the third.
They say styles make fights, and that’s 100% the case with this middleweight bout. Vieira is a black belt in BJJ and he uses those skills quite often. He’s averaging 5.77 takedown attempts per 15 minutes and he’s landing at a 52% clip. Furthermore, Vieira’s averaging 1.4 submission attempts per 15 minutes, and all three of his UFC victories have come by way of submission.

Something has to give between the knockout artist and the submission guru.
