Conor McGregor Next Fight Odds: Oddsmakers Tab Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler for Next Fight

It’s been a few days under a year since we last saw Conor McGregor step into the octagon, and more than 2.5 since we last saw him leave one victorious. Take away his January 2020 win against an overmatched Cowboy Cerrone, and you have to go all the way back to November 2016 for the last time McGregor was truly challenged and came out on top.

Even still, one of the most iconic and highest-paid names in the history of martial arts is at the top of every fighter's (and sportsbook’s) list, as the payday that will follow will likely be the biggest of their career.

Let’s take a closer look at the top five most likely to get the chance.

Conor McGregor Next Fight Odds

Michael Chandler (+150) (Bet $100 to win $150)

Chandler has publicly called for McGregor now on numerous occasions, and as a relative newcomer to the UFC, the former Bellator lightweight champion makes a lot of sense as a big personality that currently sits in the top five. At 5’8”, he also lines up well with McGregor’s size and outside of a recent win over a declining Tony Ferguson, still has yet to have any enormous wins in the UFC.

The only question, for me, does McGregor want to jump straight back into the fire against a fighter of Chandler’s caliber.

Charles Oliveira (+200) (Bet $100 to win $200)

The current #4 pound-for-pound fighter with the company, Oliveira is one of the best grapplers in the sport and despite a propensity to strike, would submit McGregor with relative ease should he want to. For my money, Olivera coaxing Khabib out of retirement is the fight all fight fans should want to see.

Nate Diaz (+450) (Bet $100 to win $450)

Diaz actually makes the most sense for me when it comes to McGregor’s return, as they split their pair of fights against one another back in 2016. Like Ferguson, Diaz is certainly on the back nine of his career and I could see this being a fight McGregor sees himself as being favored in. It also makes a lot of sense from a financial/fan perspective, as two of the sports' biggest personalities would have no shortage of ammo to sell the fight with.

Justin Gaethje (+600) (Bet $100 to win $600)

Gaethje is an interesting potential opponent for McGregor, as he has now lost two of his past three; albeit against some of the best the sport has ever seen (Oliveira and Khabib). Unlike Oliveira, Gathje has a propensity to stand and strike and a fight with McGregor almost certainly ends inside the distance.

Like the Diaz matchup, this fight would be attractive from a financial aspect as well as Gaethje has won a lot of fans over in the past few years and no doubt would be a big seller for the UFC.

Kamaru Usman (+850) (Bet $100 to win $850)

The #1 pound-for-pound fighter on the UFC roster, Usman doesn’t make a lot of sense for McGregor who lacks a quality win for more than five years now. While he might be on the road map should McGregor perform well in his first couple of fights back, Usman should well be over +1000 as far as I’m concerned.
