Jared Vanderaa vs. Chase Sherman Breakdown
Jared Vanderaa (12-8)
Since signing with the UFC following a win on Dana White's Contender Series, Jared Vanderaa has seen an up and down start to his promotional career. Vanderaa has just one victory in the UFC octagon opposite 4 defeats, most recently being submitted by Alexey Oleynik at UFC 273.
If Vanderaa wants to put his losing streak to a halt, he may look to take this one to the mat. Despite not being a wrestling or jiu-jitsu specialist, Vanderaa manages to hold a 0.27 to 0.0 takedowns per 15-minutes over Sherman, but Vanderaa does have a 100% takedown rate in his UFC tenure.
Chase Sherman (15-10)
Standing across Vanderaa tonight will be Mississippi's own, Chase Sherman. "The Vanilla Gorilla" first signed with the UFC in 2016 but would be released from his contract in 2018 following a disappointing 2-5 record under the company's banner, which ended with a three-fight losing streak. Sherman would leave the UFC and win three straight bouts via knockout before being brought back to the company in 2020 but after winning his first bout back in the UFC, he's now lost four straight fights, most recently against Alexandr Romanov, this past April.
Sherman may be keen to keep tonight's bout on the feet as he holds a staggering 6.08 to 4.52 significant strikes landed per minute advantage over his fellow American counterpart.
Jared Vanderaa vs. Chase Sherman Odds
Since opening as a -200 favorite, Vanderaa's odds have managed to stay on par with the opening price as Vanderaa is also currently listed at -200 for tonight's bout.
Meanwhile, Sherman opened as a modest +170 underdog and that number has stayed on track as "The Vanilla Gorilla" currently stands at +170.
