It was supposed to be Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev in the main event at UFC 279. Unfortunately, today Chimaev did not make weight so there had to be a pivot by the UFC for this weekend's fights. Now Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson will be the Main Event you can see the odds for their fight here.

One of the fastest rising stars in UFC history was looking to put himself in position as the number one contender. Chimaev signed with the UFC in July 2020 when he quickly defeated John Phillips. Chimaev would return to the octagon just 10-days later and finished Rhys McKee, also inside of one round. Chimaev's next fight needed just 17-seconds when he knocked out veteran, Gerald Meerschaert.

Chimaev faced numerous tests since defeating Li Jingliang his first ranked opponent and scored a unanimous victory over Brazilian bruiser Gilbert Burns. He was set to take center stage at UFC 279 but unfortunately, his main event debut will have to wait.

Now he will fight Kevin Holland in one of the most elite scramble drills ever done for a sporting event schedule for UFC 279.
