Jake Collier (13-7)
Former middleweight contender, Jake Collier looks to get back on track in his new heavyweight division when he faces Chris Barnett in the UFC 279 prelim opener.
Collier first entered the UFC back in 2014 as a 185-pounder and put together a modest 3-3 record in the promotion before he announced his retirement from the sport. However, Collier would make his return to not only the UFC but the sport of mixed martial arts in 2020, and this time, as a heavyweight. Collier was immediately fed to the fire when he took on Tom Aspinall and was quickly knocked out by the top English contender. Since the Aspinall bout, Collier has traded wins and losses, most recently losing to former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Andrei Arlovski, this past April.
Chris Barnett (22-8)
Standing across from Collier will be the Spanish-born fan favorite, Chris Barnett.
'Beast boy' entered the UFC in 2021 but would be quickly submitted by a perennial contender, Ben Rothwell. Barnett would reclaim his form with a spinning wheel kick knockout of veteran, Gian Villante before losing his last bout against Martin Buday by technical decision, this past April.
