Josh Culibao vs. Melsik Baghdasaryan Breakdown

Josh Culibao (10-1-1)

Looking for the biggest win of his UFC career on Saturday night is Australia's own Josh Culibao.

'Kuya' secured his spot on the UFC roster following an unblemished 7-0 record on the independent circuit. Unfortunately for Culibao, he'd come up short upon his arrival in the Ultimate Fighting Championship as he was TKO'd by one of the best fighters in the division Jalin Turner. However, Culibao would seemingly right the ship as he heads into UFC 284 with a pair of victories over Shayilan Nuerdanbieke and most recently earning the split-decision nod over Seung Woo Choi this past June.

If Culibao were to extend his winning streak to three on Saturday night, he'll more than likely want to keep this one on the feet. While Baghdasaryan has a higher output when it comes to significant strikes, Culibao is the more accurate striker, as well as the more defensively sound fighter as he blocks 61% of his opponent's attempted strikes while his Armenian foe evades just 53% of his opponent's blows.

Melsik Baghdasaryan (7-1)

Looking to play spoiler in Culibao's home country of Australia is Armenian contender Melsik Baghdasryan.

After dropping his professional debut in 2014, Baghdasaryan hasn't tasted defeat ever since. 'The Gun' found himself on Dana White's Contender Series in 2020 following an unblemished 3-0 run on the independent circuit following his aforementioned debut shortcoming. Baghdasaryan would earn a unanimous decision victory over Dennis Buzukja on DWCS and followed it up with a pair of victories over Collin Anglin and most recently Bruno Souza back in November 2021.

If Baghdasaryan were to spoil the hometown party for Culibao, he'll also want to keep this one standing. Despite Culibao being more accurate and defensive, Baghdasaryan lands (6.0) just under double as many significant strikes as his Australian counterpart (3.06).
