Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman Prediction

Leon Edwards (20-3-0)

Edwards, a former welterweight champion of BAMMA, signed on with the UFC in 2014. Edwards is 12-1 with one no-contest during his run through the UFC, which includes his victory over Usman. In the dramatic win, he successfully executed a head kick that brought Usman to the ground at UFC 278.

At UFC 286, lucky number 13 in the UFC awaits Edwards, who is confident he can get the job done once again.

Kamaru Usman (20-2-0)

Usman, the Ultimate Fighter 21 champion in 2015, won nine straight matches and then defeated Tyron Woodley to claim the welterweight championship of the UFC in 2019. Five times, he successfully defended the title, with his final before Edwards being an encounter in 2021 with a rematch with Colby Covington.

Coming into this one, revenge is fresh on his mind as he heads into hostile territory to try and get his belt back from Edwards. The former No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, Usman, is in desperate need of a win here if he hopes to re-claim that spot in 2023 or beyond.

Leon Edwards vs Kamaru Usman Pick

While many that cover the sport think Usman is a lock to get his title back, I’m not sure. In that fifth round KO back in August, Edwards was competitive throughout the fight, and as Usman approaches 40, I’ve seen his game progressively slow down.

In what I have as a coin flip, I’ll gladly take the value on Edwards to get it done again.
