UFC 253 Odds: Oddsmakers Favor Adesanya, But Bettors Like Costa
UFC 253 Preview – Adesanya vs. Costa
It’s rare that you get a matchup between two undefeated fighters in the UFC. It’s even rarer that those two fighters are going at it with a title on the line.
This weekend, at UFC 253, that’s exactly what’ll happen when Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa step in the ring for Saturday’s main event.
Costa comes into Saturday’s fight as the challenger. At 29 years old, he’s posted a 13-0 professional MMA record and is 5-0 since joining the UFC in 2017.
In his most recent fight, Costa defeated Yoel Romero by unanimous decision. It was Costa’s first UFC fight that had ever gone the distance. 11 of Costa’s 13 professional wins have come by knockout, and he’ll be looking to catch the champ on the chin come Saturday.
Adesanya, AKA The Last Stylebender, is known for his style and grace in the octagon. He’s 31 years old and a perfect 19-0 in his career, including an 8-0 mark in the UFC.
His last victory also came via unanimous decision against Yoel Romero. Adesanya was awarded the interim UFC middleweight following his victory over Kelvin Gastelum and later unified the title by defeating Robert Whitaker at UFC 243 on October 6, 2019.
