It seems like we’ve been talking about a potential Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier fight for most of the year 2020. Well, on Thursday that fight became official as McGregor signed a contract with the UFC to meet Poirier in the octagon on January 23, 2021 at UFC 257.
Now that we know when Conor McGregor will be making his return to the UFC, it’s time to break down what the fight, and more importantly the betting markets, will look like as we’re just over two months away from the rematch between McGregor and Poirier.

A lot of the details are yet to be officially announced, but here is what we’ve heard so far. As previously mentioned, the fight will take place on January 23, 2021 at UFC 257. It’s been rumored that the bout will be fought at 155 pounds and will use Fight Island as the venue, according to ESPN.
These two have met once before in the UFC. McGregor defeated Poirier with a first-round TKO at UFC 178 in September of 2014.

His last fight, on January 18, 2020, ended with a first-round TKO over Donald Cerrone after a vicious shoulder strike left Cowboy dazed.
McGregor is 22-4 in his professional MMA career, but has only fought in the UFC twice since December of 2016.
McGregor’s last loss came on October 6, 2018 against Khabib Nurmagomedov via a fourth-round submission. All four of McGregor’s professional losses have come via submission.
Dustin Poirier
Poirier comes into January’s fight with a 26-6 professional MMA record. He topped Dan Hooker via unanimous decision in his last bout, on June 27 of this year.
Like McGregor, his last loss came at the hands of Khabib, via submission.
Poirier isn’t as big of a name as McGregor, no one is, but he’s a top fighter in the 155-pound class. He has wins over Max Holloway, Eddie Alvarez, Anthony Pettis and former champion Justin Gaethje.
