The last time we had a UFC Pay-Per-View event, Khabib Nurmagomedov finished it by choking out Justin Gaethje and announcing his retirement from the sport as one of the greatest to ever be part of the company.
This time around, at UFC 255 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, the card won’t be as filled with household names, but that hasn’t stopped bettors from going to the window ahead of Saturday, especially for the main event, Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Alex Perez.
UFC 255: Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Alex Perez
Figueiredo was always expected to headline this card, but his original opponent was supposed to be Cody Garbrandt. Unfortunately for Garbrandt, it was announced he had torn his bicep on October 2, and he was subsequently replaced by Perez.
Perez is the No. 4 contender in the Flyweight division, the same division in which Figueiredo is the current champion. Perez has a 24-5 record in his professional MMA career, but is 7-1 in his eight fights since joining the UFC.
Perez’s only loss came at the hands of Joseph Benevidez via a first round TKO.
Meanwhile, Figueiredo is 19-1 in his professional career, and his last two victories were both against the man that defeated Perez, Benevidez.
In their first fight, Figueiredo missed weight, meaning he also missed an opportunity to fight for the vacant Flyweight title. But in their second bout, he was victorious and took the belt.
