Conor McGregor Betting Favorite To Defeat Dustin Poirier In Third Fight

Rumours have been circulating on social media since last night that the trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier looks set to happen in July.

Dana White said at the weekend that a pay-per-view fight in Las Vegas is the plan for UFC 264, and the eagerly-awaited third match between Poirier and McGregor could headline.

Today Ariel Helwani from ESPN confirmed this news and expects the fight to be confirmed as early as this week. With the fight set to happen in July it means that fans will be in attendance for this blockbuster rematch.

Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier: The Story So Far

The story between these two fighters started back in 2014 when McGregor defeated Poirier at UFC 178 via knockout. It only took McGregor one minute and forty-six seconds to defeat Poirier and it catapulted his rise to the very top of the fight game in the years to come.

Poirier then avenged that defeat in January this year after waiting six and a half years for a rematch with his own stoppage of the Irishman. Poirier stunned McGregor with a second round knockout at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi.

With the score set at 1-1, the third fight will be the decider and the online sportsbooks have already priced it up.
