Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin Odds: Badgers Given 67.7% Chance to Beat Irish
For Notre Dame QB Jack Coan, Saturday’s game vs. Wisconsin will be treated sort of like a homecoming. Sure, the game is in Soldier field instead of Camp Randall, but that won’t stop people from talking about how the former Badger QB is taking on his old team.
Notre Dame enters the showdown as the No. 12 team in the country, unbeaten on the year and coming off a win over Wisconsin’s fellow Big 10 school, Purdue. But, Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin odds don’t seem to be giving the Irish much credit.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin suffered a setback in Week 1, falling to Penn State at home. As each week goes on and Penn State continues to win games, that loss keeps looking better, but it’s crucial for the Badgers to keep it as their only defeat on the season.
So, as the unbeaten Irish take on the 1-1 Badgers, you’d assume that Notre Dame would be the favorites, right? Wrong.
According to the latest Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin odds, Wisconsin is the favorite, and not by a very small margin as the Badgers enter Saturday’s game favored by 4.5 points.

Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin Preview
We’re not really sure how good Notre Dame or Wisconsin are to this point. Wisconsin suffered that home loss to Penn State in Week 1 then dismantled a bad Eastern Michigan team the next week. They were off this past weekend, so those are their only two games.
Notre Dame went into Doak Campbell Stadium in Week 1 and beat a feisty Florida State team, but that win looks less impressive as each week goes by. The Seminoles are 0-3 and lost to Jacksonville State in Week 2. Realistically, their win over Purdue this last week was their most impressive.
Former Badger QB Jack Coan is under center for the Irish now and you can bet he’ll come into Saturday’s game in Chicago looking to prove himself.
Coan tore Florida State up in Week 1, but has looked rather pedestrian since. A big performance against a really good Wisconsin defense could get his season back on track.
Wisconsin is led by sophomore QB Graham Mertz. A year ago, that was an exciting sentence for Badger fans, but now they’re beginning to question what they have in Mertz. His performance against Penn State earlier in the year was flat out bad. This Notre Dame defense isn’t very good, with the exception of safety Kyle Hamilton, so he should be able to put up some numbers.
It really comes down to the talented Notre Dame offense, led by Coan, vs. the hard-nosed Wisconsin defensive unit. Whichever side wins that battle will likely win the game.
The latest Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin odds are head scratching for me. I expected Notre Dame, the unbeaten No. 12 team in the country, to be favored over No. 18 Wisconsin, who has been largely unproven and untested so far.
Instead, Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin odds have the Badgers favored by more than a field goal.
As of Sunday, Wisconsin is a 4.5-point favorite to win at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday. The line opened at Wisconsin -5.5, but has moved since.
As for Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin odds for the moneyline, Wisconsin is a -210 favorite, implying a 67.7% chance that they rebound from their early loss to Penn State and take down the Irish
