Both of these two ACC teams sit at 2-2 heading into Week 5 as the Virginia Cavaliers make their way down to Florida to take on Miami.

Virginia is coming off of a 37-17 loss last week in a game where they were favored by 3.5 points in. They started off the year with back-to-back covers before getting their doors blown off by North Carolina and then Wake Forest. They come into the matchup as four-point underdogs to Miami.

So far in four games, Miami has covered the spread just once and it came in their 69-0 win over Central Connecticut State last week. As four-point favorites this week and -180 on the money line, they’re implied with a 61.29 percent chance of winning.

The public loves Miami this week as a whopping 89% of the bets sitting on Miami for the Thursday night matchup and 72% of the cash going their way as well.

Miami vs Virginia Preview

Both these teams have the same record, but it’s easy to see why people love Miami so much this week. When looking at Virginia, they have one of the worst run defenses in college football. They allowed 577 yards of rushing in both of their losses so far this year. While Miami has been streaky so far on the ground this year, they’ve been very solid in both games they’ve won so that should be a good indication early on which way this game is going to go.

For Virginia, in order to win this game, they’re going to need their quarterback to carry them. Brennan Armstrong is averaging an insane 426 passing yards per game and already has 13 passing touchdowns on the season. They’ll need another one of his huge days to upset Miami this week.

The four-point spread seems like a gift from oddsmakers here in this early Week 5 matchup. Virginia after an embarrassing loss having to travel on the road and cover a four-point spread sounds like a big ask, especially with that defense.

Sometimes it’s not a good thing to follow the money and the betting percentages, but this time, I’m not sure how you don’t.

Miami vs Virginia Betting And Prediction

Despite Miami only covering once this year, they seem like the safe play. Cam’ron Harris should have a big day on the ground and I don’t think they ask their QB to do too much in this contest.

Miami wins and easily covers the four-point number at home over the Cavaliers and improves to 3-2.

Pick: Miami -4 (-110)
