No. 15 Texas A&M Aggies will look to bounce back after a 20-10 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday, failing to come through as the closing -4.5 favorite on the NCAAF odds board.
Similarly, the Mississippi State Bulldogs will look to bounce back after suffering a disappointing 28-25 loss to LSU and narrowly missing the cover as the 1.5-point home underdogs.            Â
Books opened Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State odds cornered with the Aggies. As things currently stand, the hosts are laying a touchdown to the Bulldogs in this pivotal SEC showdown. However, with Texas A&M and Miss State coming off losses in their first SEC games of the season, the pressure is bound to be great; and the premium on the win is even greater.Â
Texas A&M Aggies Preview
Texas A&M fritted away an opportunity against Arkansas to improve to a 4-0 record on Saturday. By the odds, the Aggies were predicted to win as the closing 4.5-point faves. But they deposited a somewhat lackluster showing and ended up losing by 10-points. Quarterback Zach Calzada went 20-of-36 for 151 yards and a pick, while Isaiah Spiller rushed for 95 yards and a score.
Saturday’s loss to the Razorbacks marked Texas A&M’s first loss, and they slipped to a 3-1 record overall and a 0-1 record in SEC action. The Aggies started slowly, giving up 17 points in the first half to the Razorbacks. The second half of the game was better, but not enough to make a fist of it or threaten Arkansas’ lead in the game.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Preview
Arguably, the Miss State’s loss to LSU wasn’t exactly surprising as the Bulldogs were the underdogs going into the game. However, the opportunity was there for the taking, only for the Bulldogs to frit those away. A couple of costly turnovers turned the tide against the Bulldogs and sealed a narrow 28-25 loss. As things currently stand, Miss State is 2-2 SU overall and a 0-1 in SEC action.
Frustratingly, the Bulldogs lost by a handful of points for a second straight week. They lost t by two points o Memphis the week prior, and then by three points to LSU in Week 4. It wasn’t all bad for the Bulldogs, though. An inspired fourth-quarter rally that saw Miss State put up 15 points to narrow the gap on the scoreboard is something to hang their hats on. While it proved too little too late against LSU, it showed a spirit and character that will serve them well going forward.
Quarterback Will Rogers put up 371 yards with three scores and a pick, while Makai Polk led receivers with 78 yards on eight receptions.
