Auburn Tigers Preview

There was certainly a stretch earlier in the year where Auburn didn’t exactly look like a top-15 team. The Tigers lost a hard-fought affair on the road against Penn State and also nearly fell to Georgia State the following week. It took a break from the officials for Auburn to avert disaster in that one. Ever since the Tigers won on the road against LSU however, there has been a different vibe. While there wasn’t much Auburn could do against Georgia, they certainly haven’t been the only team to say that this season. The last two games have seen Bryan Harsin’s club dominate Arkansas on the road and topple a higher-ranked Ole Miss team at home last weekend.

The growth and maturation of quarterback Bo Nix this season have been undeniable. He was very impressive yet again last weekend against the Rebels, passing for 276 yards and a score. Nix also added a pair of rushing touchdowns. Auburn ran all over the Ole Miss defense with Tank Bigsby leading the charge. The sophomore averaged over six yards per carry on his way to 140 for the game and a score. With Texas A&M boasting one of the best defensive fronts in the country, Auburn might not be able to lean on Bigsby and the ground game to the same degree that they did a week ago. Nix will have to overcome his struggles away from The Plains if the Tigers are to score a college football betting upset.

Texas A&M Aggies Preview

Texas A&M will have both home field and a rest advantage in this SEC matchup having had a bye last week. After shocking the college football betting world by taking down then-No. 1 Alabama, the Aggies finished up the month of October with two comfortable wins over Missouri and South Carolina. With the offense having gotten back on track, the Aggies are poised to potentially challenge for second in the SEC West Division. Quarterback Zach Calzada only threw for 187 yards against South Carolina, but that was more than enough. The Aggies got the ground game working big time in their 30-point win two weeks ago. Expect to see plenty more of Isaiah Spiller on Saturday against Auburn.

While Jimbo Fisher lacks any true game-changers at the wide receiver position this season, tight end Jalen Wydermyer is one of the best at the position in all of college football. Like Nix, the pressure will be on Calzada to step up and make big plays when necessary. It has proven much easier to beat Auburn through the air than on the ground. On defense, the Aggies come into this matchup giving up just 16.1 points per game. Not only is that the second-fewest in the SEC behind Georgia, but it is tied for the third-fewest in all of college football. A&M’s defensive front can match up with any in the country.

Auburn vs. Texas A&M Odds

Oddsmakers originally opened Texas A&M at -6 for this game. The line has shifted a bit since then in Auburn’s favor. The spread is a narrower 4.5 following the Tigers’ impressive win over Ole Miss. The current over/under of 50 is identical to how it opened up. Despite both coming in with identical records, the Aggies are given nearly a 65% chance to win based on the implied probability of the moneyline odds.

Auburn vs. Texas A&M Betting Picks and Prediction

These two teams both possess plenty of talent. This Auburn vs Texas A&M battle should be a great watch on Saturday. When it comes to college football betting picks for this game, the various advantages that A&M has coming in should be reiterated. The Aggies will be fresh off of a bye while Auburn is coming off a tough game against Ole Miss. Of course, playing at home in front of the true ‘12th Man’ at Kyle Field cannot be understated either.

When it comes down to it, both defenses should be able to dictate things on their respective side of the ball. Although Bo Nix has shown marked improvement overall and on the road this season, it is still difficult to trust him going up against one of the best defenses in all of college football. Look for the Aggies to get the job done. The opening six-point line feels a bit more accurate than the adjusted spread.

Auburn vs. Texas A&M Prediction: Texas A&M -4.5 (-110)
