Odell Beckham Jr. Rumors: Could the Packers Make a Play for OBJ?

Well, Odell Beckham has officially cleared waivers meaning that he can sign with any team. At 4:00 pm we were able to find out if a team picked him up or not and we learned that he did not get claimed.

This saga all started when the Cleveland Browns elected to cut ties after a video surfaced of Odell’s father clipping times where OBJ was missed by Baker Mayfield.

So far this year, Odell’s played in six games for Cleveland with 232 yards receiving and no touchdowns. His three-year stint with the Browns didn’t go as planned as he was well off his career pace each of the three seasons with the team.

Now, Odell will try to replicate his production that he had in New York earlier in his career with his new team. In his first three years in the league, he went over 1,300 yards and double-digit touchdowns each season.

Sure, after numerous injuries he might not be the player he once was but that doesn’t mean he still can’t provide value to an offense. Can that offense be the Green Bay Packers?

Green Bay has one of the best receivers in football in Davante Adams on the outside. After that, the WR room is a little thin. A well past his prime Randall Cobb is second on the team in receiving yards and Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have significantly underwhelmed.

If you truly want to go all-in on Aaron Rodgers this year, getting him a dynamic playmaker like Odell could be the spark this offense needs. As it currently stands, the Packers have the sixth-best odds to win the Lombardi Trophy at +1100. We would more than likely see a change in the number with an impact player like Beckham joining the fold.
