Mike White Named Jets' Starter For Sunday's Matchup vs. Bills

Well, we have our answer. The New York Jets have named Mike White the starting quarterback for this week against the Buffalo Bills. Rookie quarterback, Zach Wilson has missed the last two games with a PCL injury and the Jets elected to err on the side of caution.

In speaking to the media today, Robert Saleh explained that Wilson’s knee “isn’t fully ready to go” but Mike White (who left Thursday’s game with an injury) is fully healthy and ready to start.

In Mike White’s start against the Bengals in Week 8 he burst on the scene with an 82.2 completion percentage 405 yards and three touchdowns. He started hot against the Colts, throwing for 95 yards and a score on 11 passes before leaving due to injury.

This doesn’t look like a quarterback controversy in New York, at least not yet, but if White plays well against the Bills maybe that changes things in the short term.

Buffalo is still favored by 13 points in this one and don’t expect that line to change based on White starting now. Yes, he’s looked better than Zach Wilson has through his first five NFL career games but not enough to impact major line movement.

The Bills are coming off an embarrassing loss to Jacksonville this past week. Will Mike White make it two in a row or will the Josh Allen led Buffalo Bills bounce back and look like the preseason contenders everyone picked them to be?
