Odell Beckham Jr. Next Team Odds: OBJ Sweepstakes Down to Rams and Packers

Well, you can’t say Odell Beckham’s boring. After being waived by the Cleveland Browns, Odell Beckham Jr. was able to sign with any team in the league. Odell has narrowed his search to two teams, the Rams and the Packers.

After some initial confusion, where Adam Schefter fired off a tweet saying that he was signing with Los Angeles, Josina Anderson who spoke with Odell cleared it up saying that he is still on the fence.

It’s been a strange year for Odell, as he’s averaging a career-low 38.7 yards per game and no touchdowns. His tenure in Cleveland wasn’t what anyone anticipated it would be as he had seven touchdowns over three seasons and over just 29 games (9.7 per year) averaged 54,7 yards per game.

For reference, in his first five years in the league, he averaged 92.8 yards per game and went over 1,300 yards receiving in each of his first three seasons in the NFL. Now, he gets to see if he’s able to turn back the clock in his new home.

Even if he’s not the same guy, all these years later, that doesn’t mean that he can’t still be a useful weapon.

Odell Beckham Jr's Impact on Rams

Odell would be far from the number one target on his new team. Cooper Kupp is already over 1,000 receiving yards with double-digit touchdowns and Robert Woods is no slouch either. The point is there are a lot of mouths to feed but no doubt does this make this Rams offense, which already ranks fifth in points, that much more lethal. For Los Angeles, this is just another major statement. They are deadset on winning it all this year, they went out and added Matthew Stafford in the offseason, traded for Von Miller, and now added Odell to the fold. Can they handle all this star power?

Odell Beckham Jr's Impact on Packers

Davante Adams was really the only threat that the wide receiver position. Allen Lazard, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and a washed Randall Cobb isn’t going to cut it. That’s why the Packers were proactive and added Beckham who would be an immediate spark to this team. Heck, if you really want to make it one last ride to remember for Aaron Rodgers, this was the right decision.
