Without a doubt, Thanksgiving is the best day of the year. It simply doesn’t get any better than a full day dedicated to food, family, and football. This year, we have an NFL tripleheader on tap with three intriguing matchups. The action will get started midday when the Detroit Lions play their customary Thanksgiving Day home game against the Chicago Bears. The Dallas Cowboys will also continue their tradition of hosting a Thanksgiving contest when they face the Las Vegas Raiders. The slate will conclude in primetime with an enticing matchup between the Buffalo Bills and New Orleans Saints. The following article provides key info, NFL betting odds, and predictions for each of the three turkey day games.

The Bears’ season has turned into a total debacle following last week’s incredible loss late to the Baltimore Ravens and backup QB Tyler Huntley. Reports out of Chicago suggest that head coach Matt Nagy has lost the majority of the locker room and could even be fired following this Thanksgiving Day NFL betting matchup. Speaking of backup quarterbacks, veteran Andy Dalton is expected to start on Thursday after rookie Justin Fields sustained an injury in last week’s game. While the media has been very critical of Dalton and really pushed for him to be benched in favor of Fields early in the year, he should actually benefit the Bears’ passing attack.
Although the Lions remain winless on the season, they sure are playing teams tough. Look no further than a 6-4 ATS mark as proof that Detroit is close. After tying the Pittsburgh Steelers two weeks ago, the Lions fell by a field goal to the Cleveland Browns last weekend. They also were forced to start backup quarterback Tim Boyle in that game. All signs point to Jared Goff being back under center in Thursday’s matchup. D’Andre Swift ran wild on a solid Browns run defense with 136 yards and a score on just 14 carries. Despite the goose egg in the win column, Dan Campbell continues to have his team ready to play each time out.

The locker room situation in Chicago is a major concern. A five-game losing streak and internal turmoil could lead to further embarrassment for the Bears on Thanksgiving Day. If the rumors that Matt Nagy could be fired after Thursday’s game are true, one can’t help but wonder if the players will put forth a full effort. The Lions remain hungry for that elusive first win of the season. The chance to do so at home in front of a national TV audience almost makes this game feel like Detroit’s Super Bowl. The three-point spread is a terrific bet with a sprinkle on the Lions’ moneyline also an option.

The Raiders enter this Thanksgiving Day showdown on a three-game losing streak. After a terrific start to the season, Las Vegas has come crashing back down to .500 and appears to be a dead team walking in the wake of numerous off-field distractions. The offense was listless in a lopsided home loss to the Cincinnati Bengals last week. The Raiders converted just one of seven third downs for the game. The lack of a stable ground game and viable weapons outside of tight end Darren Waller has this team facing an uphill battle on every possession.
The Cowboys also enter their annual Thanksgiving Day home game off a loss, falling 19-9 in a surprising defensive affair to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday. Dallas was without wideout Amari Cooper in that game and will likely be without him again on Thursday all due to a certain virus. Fellow receiver CeeDee Lamb also was knocked out of Sunday’s loss with a concussion and has yet to practice this week. Luckily, lead running back Ezekiel Elliott was a full participant in Tuesday’s practice after sustaining a knee injury in last week’s contest. Even though they will be at less than full strength, the Cowboys are still hefty NFL betting favorites ahead of Thursday’s tilt.

Given the struggles of Derek Carr and the Raiders’ entire offense in recent weeks, it’s hard to envision them generating much success against a vastly improved Cowboys defense. While Las Vegas has also struggled to stop opponents, the fact that Dallas will be without their top two receivers looms large. What would have been a terrific matchup for a loaded receiving corps against a depleted secondary no longer feels quite so lopsided. There are valid reasons on both sides of the ball to make a play on the under worth a look.
Raiders vs Cowboys NFL Betting Picks: Under 52.5 (-133)
Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints Week 12 Thanksgiving Day NFL Betting Odds, Picks, and Preview

The Bills went into Week 11 as NFL betting favorites to win the Super Bowl. Well, that is no longer the case after suffering a beatdown at home courtesy of Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts. Josh Allen threw two more interceptions on Sunday and looks much more like his pre-2020 self than the player who was an MVP candidate last year and inked a massive contract extension in the offseason. The Bills also have major issues to fix along both the offensive and defensive fronts. An inability to run the football has the offense looking extremely one-dimensional. Meanwhile, Buffalo’s run defense looks just as bad as it did a year ago.
No team has been hit harder by injuries this season than the Saints. The loss of starting quarterback Jameis Winston to a torn ACL will be felt for the remainder of the year. The injury bug has spread further than that, however. In total, New Orleans was without seven offensive starters in last week’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Star running back Alvin Kamara has now missed back-to-back games and has yet to practice ahead of this Thanksgiving night NFL betting showdown. The Saints do expect to have offensive tackle Terron Armstead back after he participated fully in Tuesday’s practice. All that being said, the key to a turkey day upset win and postseason run for New Orleans this season certainly lies on the shoulders of a stout defense.

With embarrassing losses in two of the last three weeks and glaring issues to address on both sides of the ball, it seems safe to say that the Bills are one of the most overrated teams in the NFL. They catch a break this week against a banged-up Saints team. With so many injuries to monitor for New Orleans, bettors are advised to gather as much information as they can before making their picks. That said, giving Sean Payton nearly a full touchdown at home is quite a statement for the NFL betting market to make. We’ll lean towards taking the Saints plus the points in what should be a tight defensive slugfest.
Bills vs Saints NFL Betting Picks: Saints +6 (-104) and Under 46.5 (-120)
