Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings SNF Odds, Betting Preview and Predictions
The Green Bay Packers are in pole position to clinch the No.1 seed ahead of Week 17, but the Dallas Cowboys are breathing down their necks and could challenge Matt LaFleur’s side for the coveted top spot. Before the Packers take to the field, they’ll know where they stand in the race. The Cowboys face the Arizona Cardinals in a must-win game earlier in the afternoon.
Should the Cowboys lose to the Cardinals, the pressure will be considerably lessened. Should the Cowboys beat the Cardinals, the onus will be on the Packers to respond. However, to do so against the Vikings will be tricky, and potentially tougher than the NFL odds would have it. The Vikings were the last team to beat the Packers in November before Aaron Rodgers and Co. went on their latest winning tear. Mike Zimmer’s side isn’t without motivation to win this game. Minnesota’s playoff bid rests on the outcome of this game and now with Kirk Cousins set to miss it their hopes have been diminished.
All told, this Sunday Night Football showdown between NFC North rivals Minnesota and Green Bay at Lambeau Field promises to be a right-cracking contest.

Vikings Betting Preview
The Vikings were in control of their playoff prospects going into Week 16, but a loss to the Los Angeles Rams at home scuppered those hopes. Minnesota can still advance into the postseason, but winning out alone will no longer do it. They’ll need some of their rivals to trip up.
Kirk Cousins and Co. lost 30-23 to the Rams at the US Bank Stadium on Sunday and fell back to a 7-8 record on the season. The Vikings went into the game as the 3.5-point home underdogs, but the outcome wasn’t as close as the bookmakers projected. Cousins was missing his favorite target Dalvin Cook, who was on the reserve/covid-19 list. Adam Thielen aggravated an ankle injury, and he didn’t return.
The Vikings are just on the edge of the cut-off line for the playoffs, eighth overall in the NFC standings. The San Francisco 49ers (8-7-0) and the Philadelphia Eagles (8-7-0) are ahead of the Vikings, sitting in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Minnesota needs one or the other to drop at least one of the last two games to leapfrog into contention.
Minnesota is 8-7-0 ATS overall on the season with a 0.8 winning margin on average. They’re also 5-3-0 ATS on the road with a 0.5 winning margin and a +0.3 differential versus the spread. Now Kirk Cousins is placed on the COVID-list and he will miss this game. In no way do the Vikings stand a chance in primetime at Lambeau field in Week 17.
Packers Betting Preview
Green Bay clinched a fourth-straight win at the expense of the Cleveland Browns last Sunday to improve to a 12-4-0 record on the season and maintain their advantage at the top of the NFC standings. The Packers were in command for most of the game and took a 21-12 lead into halftime. The Browns made it somewhat interesting in the second half, but the Packers held onto the narrow 24-22 victory. The Browns’ late scoring denied Green Bay bettors who backed the Packers as the 7.5-point home chalk.
The Packers have been flying by the seat of their pants, winning narrow contests in the last couple of weeks. They survived a scare the week prior, too, holding on to the close 31-30 win over the injury-riddled Baltimore Ravens. Then, the Packers missed the cover as the 9.5-point road favorites.
Green Bay has the second-best record against the spread (ATS) in the league. They’re 11-4-0 ATS overall this season, which includes a 3.9 winning margin on average and a +0.4 differential versus the spread. On home turf, the Packers are a perfect 7-0 SU on the season and league-leading 6-1-0 ATS with a 12.0 winning margin and a +5.2 differential versus the spread.

For the most part, it has held firm over the week. With Kirk Cousins now placed on the COVID-list the line has doubled in the Packers favor.
Packers vs.Vikings Betting Predictions and Picks
This is a massive game that carries far-reaching implications for both teams. There is no doubt about the Packers being the better team in this matchup, but the Vikings are one of the best competitors in the game. This isn’t a team that will go down easily or without a fight. Not to mention, they’ll be buoyed by their earlier win over the Packers this season.
Winning this game to advance their quest for the top seed is the focus of Green Bay. How they win it – by a big or small margin – will matter little so long as they get the W. The Vikings, who are fighting for their survival, will likely force the issue. This could see the game come down to the wire or a backdoor cover spoil it for Green Bay against the spread. The Packers win, but the Vikings cover.
NFL Picks: Vikings +13
