Coming in fourth place is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who currently sit at +900 or an implied 10% chance to get a deal done. That has them quite a ways behind the third-place New York Jets who are given +300 odds or an implied 25% chance to land Carr. The Jets are second to land Aaron Rodgers at +200, which is clouding this market.

The top two are as tight as possible. The Carolina Panthers are the current favorites to land Carr at +140 or an implied 41.7% chance. However, the New Orleans Saints are right behind them at +150 or an implied 40% chance to land Carr after he declined a trade to New Orleans.

No other team is given better than +1400 odds to land Carr. Even the often rumored Tennessee Titans are given +2000 odds or an implied 4.8% chance to land the new free agent.

Only two teams reached out to the Las Vegas Raiders in an attempt to land Carr, the Saints and the Jets. One would assume those are the most serious teams in pursuit. However, the Jets are rumored to have more interest in Rodgers than Carr, and the Saints had Carr tell them no once already.

So, the Panthers, who are searching for their answer at quarterback, jump to the top of the line. Frank Reich ran through a litany of veteran quarterbacks in Indianapolis from Philip Rivers to Carson Wentz to Matt Ryan, would he take a shot on someone like Derek Carr now that he’s in Carolina? The sportsbooks believe that’s what happens, at least for now.
