Olympic Golf Odds: Collin Morikawa New Betting Favorite Following Jon Rahm Withdrawal

The Olympic golf odds market has seen a shake-up! In the last two days we’ve lost the betting favorite Jon Rahm and the big-hitting American Bryson DeChambeau due to both testing positive for COVID-19. As such we’ve seen the addition of Patrick Reed to Team USA and a new betting favorite has emerged.

That new favorite in the Olympic golf odds market is British Open champion Collin Morikawa. Morikawa can now be found at the top of the board, with odds of +700 with books such as FanDuel Sportsbook and Bet365. Dual major champion Collin Morikawa was the second favorite in the field before Rahm’s arrival and could have been backed at 10/1, but with the Spaniard having to withdraw he’s now been promoted to betting favorite.

Next in the betting is the best of Team USA, with Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas priced at +950 and +1100 respectively in the Olympic golf odds market.

Coming into the Olympic golf off the back of a major championship win and a ball-striking display for the ages sees Collin Morikawa the betting favorite to win Olympic gold. Unsurprisingly, he has also been the most wagered on player in the field in the past 24 hours.

Following the withdrawal of Rahm and DeChambeau, the Olympic golf odds betting market saw a dramatic reshuffle in odds up and down the board, but one thing that stayed constant was the number of wagers being placed on Morikawa. He was the best backed player last week and he still is now. In the past day, since the withdrawal news broke, Morikawa has accounted for 17.79% of total bets placed on the Olympic golf odds market.

Next in line, is perhaps a slightly surprising name and that’s the hometown hero and Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama. Normally you might expect another American or even perhaps Rory McIlroy to be popular with bettors, but the public are putting their faith in Hideki creating a fairytale win with gold in his native Japan.

The following golfers have been the most backed in the past 24 hours in the Olympic golf odds market:

Collin Morikawa 17.79%

Hideki Matsuyama 13.88%

Xander Schauffele 4.98%

Jazz Janewattananond 4.98%

Joaquinn Niemann 3.91%

Justin Thomas 3.91%
