Olympic Golf Leaderboard: Xander Schauffele Holds Lead After Round 3

Xander Schauffele has never won one of golf’s four Majors, but he is on his way to adding one of the most impressive pieces of hardware imaginable to his trophy case.

After 54 holes, Xander Schauffele leads the Olympic golf leaderboard at 14-under par.

In 2016, Matt Kuchar was the lone American medallist, winning a bronze in Rio De Janeiro. This year, it’s Schauffele with Team USA’s best chance to medal as he hold onto a one-stroke lead over Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, who currently sits at 13-under par.

As for the bronze medal, there is currently a tie between Great Britain’s Paul Casey and Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz. With 18 holes still to play, it’s impossible to know whether they’ll still be tied when Saturday’s round end. But, if any golfers are tied for a medal, they participate in a playoff to decide who wins the medal.
