Women’s Olympic Golf Odds: Nelly Korda Given 20.8% Chance To Win Gold Following Round 1 Performance

  • Women's Olympic golf odds
  • Nelly Korda favored to win gold at +380
  • Women's Olympic golf leaderboard

Coming into the women’s Olympic golf tournament, American Nelly Korda was the overwhelming favorite with +700 odds to win gold. And, after Nelly Korda’s almost perfect start to the tournament on Tuesday, those odds have been almost cut in half.

Nelly Korda shot a 4-under par on Tuesday, tying her for second place. Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom was the only golfer to go lower than Norda, finishing 5-under par and in sole possession of first place after Round 1.

Korda, who just turned 23 years old a few days ago, is already a Major Champion on the LPGA Tour, winning the Women’s PGA Championship earlier this year. Now, she’s looking to add an Olympic gold medal to her trophy case.

American Xander Schauffele got Team USA off to a hot start in the men’s competition, winning the gold medal. Now, Korda is looking to make it a clean sweep for the Americans.

But, she isn’t the only golfer whose Olympic gold medal odds severely shortened.

Women’s Olympic Golf Odds: Nelly Korda Still Favored After Round 1

Nelly Korda’s odds to win gold at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo have always been short, but they were slashed even further on Wednesday following her amazing start to the women’s Olympic golf tournament.

After Korda shot a 4-under par in Tuesday’s opening round, her odds to win a gold medal this year went from +700 to +380. At +700, her implied probability to win a gold medal was 12.5%. Now, at +380, Nelly Korda has a 20.8% chance to win gold.

The leader of the women’s tournament after day 1, Sweden’s Madelene Sagstrom, sits at +1400. Sagstrom is the 75th ranked golfer in the world.

South Korea’s Jin Young Ko is the second favorite. She finished Round 1 at 3-under par, tied for fourth, and currently has +650 odds to win gold.
