Europe's Odds To Win The Ryder Cup

It's finally the Ryder Cup week! After year's of waiting, we are finally here. With sports betting booming in the United States, there's no surprise to find out millions of people have already headed to the Ryder Cup odds market to place their bets.

We are going to focus on Europe's Ryder Cup odds, analyze their team and make Ryder Cup predictions.

Looking at the latest Ryder Cup odds, it's clear to see not many people think Europe can win the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits. Europe's odds are currently sitting at +200 with DraftKings Sportsbook which implies they've got a 33% chance of winning.

Europe's Ryder Cup odds seem pretty reasonable when you examine the course in further detail, the key to success at Whistling Straits is Driving Distance and Long Irons, and there's not many in Team Europe who stand out in these categories. Before we go into detail over Europe's Ryder Cup team, here are the Ryder Cup odds from the biggest US sports betting sites.

The key absentees from Team Europe are:

- Justin Rose

- Viktor Perez

- Robert MacIntyre

The team was probably hampered by Bernd Wiesberger being a qualifier, as it meant only two from Sergio Garica, Shane Lowry and Justin Rose were going to get picked.

Europe's Ryder Cup Predictions

The first question to answer is, can Team Europe win the Ryder Cup? Obviously they can, however, looking at the course setup and the two teams, you would have to think it's more likely Team USA lose the Ryder Cup than Team Europe win it.

By this, I mean Team USA have the potential to implode with the characters in their team. Everyone knows that Team Europe famously get on really well as a team, and team spirit will be their key asset for the week. There's no doubting they will play for each other, the same can't be said for USA.

However, Europe's Ryder Cup odds are slightly narrow, given only McIlroy, Rahm and Casey suit the course it's hard to see a victory.

Even though Team Europe's Ryder Cup odds aren't that appealing, there are various Team Europe Prop Markets which stand out.

For example, the Top European Point-Scorer is a Ryder Cup odds market which is intriguing. Jon Rahm missed the cut on the PGA Tour last week, and reports suggested he wasn't feeling 100%. It's also unknown how they will use Rahm, will they send him out with a lessor player or will they send him out with someone like Hovland to secure a point.

There's a couple of reasons to avoid Jon Rahm in the top European Point-Scorer odds market, which leads to two Ryder Cup predictions. These are Rory McIlroy and Paul Casey in the same market.

Rory McIlroy is likely to be sent out every session, and will likely be partnered with good friend Shane Lowry. Rory McIlroy is +550 to be Europe's top point-scorer.

Paul Casey's skill-set also suits this course, and given it doesn't for various others in this team I believe he will be used regularly by Harrington. Paul Casey is +1000 to be Europe's to point-scorer.
