2023 Ryder Cup Latest Odds: Who Will Represent Team Europe?

Oddsmakers have officially released odds for the 2023 European Ryder Cup team.

Europe’s Ryder Cup team in 2023 is going to look very similar. At least, that’s what oddsmakers believe. Of the 12 golfers on Europe’s 2021 team, all but three are expected to return.

2023 Ryder Cup Odds - Team Europe Locks

Jon Rahm (-3300), Tommy Fleetwood (-225), Tyrell Hatton (-400), Rory McIlroy (-1600), Viktor Hovland (-1200), Paul Casey (-225), Matthew Fitzpatrick (-175), Shane Lowry (-138), and Sergio Garcia (+100), are all expected to return to team Europe. Those nine comprise the nine favorites to land on the team.

Rahm (97.1%), Rory (94.1%), and Hovland (92.3%) are all given better than 90% implied probability of representing Team Europe in 2023. Meanwhile, Hatton (80.0%), Fleetwood (69.2%), Case (69.2%), and Fitzpatrick (63.6%) are all above 60%.

Things get hairy after that.

2023 Ryder Cup Odds - Team Europe Final Three

The next favorite is Justin Rose at +150. The Brit had appeared on four straight European teams before this year’s event. 2018 team member Alex Noren is 11th on the odds market, given +225 odds. Rounding out the all-odds team is a tie between Matt Wallace, Thomas Detry, and Bernd Weisberg at +250. For Weisberg, it would be a return to the team after debuting this year. For Wallace and Detry, it would be a debut appearance for the youngsters.

Meanwhile, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood are all sitting outside the favorites for a spot. Poulter is 14th on the odds market, given +300 odds to make the 2023 team. He’s tied with young Scot Robert MacIntyre. Lee Westwood is 16th on the market at +350 and is tied with 20-year-old Dane Rasmus Hojgaard and 24-year-old Italian Guido Migliozzi.

2023 Ryder Cup Odds - Team Europe Overview

The fight for a spot on Team Europe is going to be fierce. Oddsmakers essentially assume that eight of the spots are already taken, with golfers given better than a 50 percent chance to lock down a spot. The other four are very open, starting with Sergio Garcia at even money; 24 golfers are given better than +1000 odds. So, while Team Europe will likely look very similar in 2023, there are assuredly going to be at least a few new faces.
