2022 LIV Golf: How to Watch and Stream LIV Golf Invitational

2022 LIV Golf: How to Watch and Stream LIV Golf Invitational
The Saudi-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series gets started this week at the Centurion Golf Club outside of London, as the golf world awaits the repercussions handed down by the PGA Tour. With PGA Tour golf legend Greg Norman at the helm, Norman has been able to lure some of the sport's biggest names for guaranteed paydays (unlike the PGA Tour), and top prizes of more than double for those who win PGA Tour events.
Let’s take a closer look at the format and how to tune in to this week’s LIV Golf event.
LIV Golf Tournament Date, and Start Time
Date: June 9-11
Where: London, England
Start Time: 9 am EST
LIV Golf Tournament Format
Featuring 48 players spread across 12 teams, LIV Golf will feature a shotgun start meaning all 48 players tee off simultaneously on different holes. Not only will this trim down the all-day rounds to about four hours, but it will also not give any player advantages based on tee time.
The event will also feature just 54 holes (3 rounds) and a team format that should make for some entertaining moments throughout the weekend.
How to Watch the LIV Golf Invitational on TV
No traditional cable providers here in the United States have yet to stand up to pick up the broadcast, likely in fear of retaliation from the PGA Tour which still holds the rights to the overwhelming majority of the world’s best players. LIV Golf has said that international broadcasters will be providing coverage, but that list has yet to be released as of Tuesday.
How to Stream the LIV Golf Invitational
Beginning at 2 p.m. local (9 a.m EST) time, the broadcast will begin on LIVGolf.com, YouTube, and Facebook and run for roughly four hours. The coverage itself will be some of the most inclusive golf broadcasting we have ever seen, with 60 on-course mics in total. Players and caddies will also be wearing mics, giving us an inside look at a sport whose in-play coverage has historically been minimal.
Two former Golf Channel/NBC Sports Golf broadcasters will be on the call in Jerry Foltz and Dom Boulet, as Arlo White of NBC Sports will head up the play-by-play. As far as on-course commentary, Su-Ann Heng and Troy Mullins will be on duty this week in London.
Notable Players in the LIV Golf Invitational Field
While No. 13 ranked and former major winner Dustin Johnson has long been the headline for this Tour, they got another boost this week in the addition of Phil Mickelson. While his joining LIV Golf has long been rumored following an increasingly contentious relationship with the PGA Tour, his confirmation this week has added a whole new level of intrigue for the series.
Getting a reported $200 million guaranteed contract to be here, Mickelson has still stated a desire to play in the majors, as has Johnson. What the PGA Tour has to say about that, which has so far been nothing good, will be a different story for both Mickelson and Johnson.
