LIV Golf Odds: Ranking the Top 10 Players, Including Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka

Another week and another group of PGA Tour golfers have defected to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf series, as Brooks Koepka and Abraham Ancer are the newest additions following the US Open. Outside of Dustin Johnson, the four-time major champion Koepka is the most elite golfer to make the jump, just days after chastising the media about discussing the topic.

With Cam Smith and Viktor Hovland now rumored as well, let’s take a closer look at who will be teeing it up for LIV’s second event in Portland, Oregon next weekend.

LIV Golf Portland: Top Players in the Field

10. Matt Jones

The biggest Aussie name to make the jump, Matt Jones has improved significantly this season making this jump a surprise for someone approaching the prime of his career. Even still, he’s likely to be a big draw in LIV events.

9. Sergio Garcia

At 42 years old, Garcia’s best golf days are well behind him and his world ranking of #57 was already sliding fast. A long-time critic of the Tour, Garcia will now try his luck in much weaker fields.

8. Patrick Reed

A late addition to the LIV series, Reed missed the first event but will be on hand in Portland. The reported $100 million he will receive was likely a no-brainer for a player who hasn’t competed in golf’s biggest events in years.

7. Bryson DeChambeau

DeChambeau will also be making his LIV debut next week in Portland, as the 8-time PGA Tour winner is set to receive $100 million. One of the most polarizing names in the sport, the DeChambeau vs. Koepka rivalry will live on.

6. Taylor Gooch

Golf fans were sad to see Gooch make the jump, as he’s ascended into a consistent top 40 golfer whose full of potential. His career on the PGA Tour is now very much in jeopardy with little to show for it prior to now.

5. Kevin Na

The #34 player in the world, NA leaves plenty of money on the table from the PGA Tour as he’s a guy who has been competing every week.

4. Louis Oosthuizen

Turning 40 this year, Oosthuizen’s best days could be behind him, but the 2010 British Open winner is still #21 in the world. His international appeal was no doubt a draw for LIV.

3. Abraham Ancer

Currently #20 in the world, Ancer was a part of the latest round of defects, as the 31-year-old departs the PGA Tour with just one professional win, but 25 top 10 finishes.

2. Brooks Koepka

Brooks joins his brother Chase in the LIV series, rumored to have secured a guaranteed contract in the seven figures similar to that of DJ. With a personality to match his game, Koepka will no doubt be bringing eyeballs with him.

1. Dustin Johnson

The 2016 US Open and 2020 Master champ is the highest-ranked defect at #14 in the world. With 24 PGA Tour victories, DJ is amongst the most accomplished to make the jump well, and the most likely to still compete in majors, should he be allowed to play.
