LIV Golf Rumors: Will Hideki Matsuyama be the Next Golfer to Join LIV?
Everyone is waiting to see who the next golfer to join the LIV Golf League will be. There are rumors that British Open champ Cam Smith will be going to the Saudi-backed tour. However, the latest name that seems to be destined to join is former Masters champ Hideki Matsuyama.
The last time we saw Hideki Matsuyama on the PGA Tour he was withdrawing from the 3M Open in the opening round. That sparked all sorts of rumors that he was leaving to join LIV, but it seems as though it was due to an injury.
Still, it seems as though Hideki Matsuyama joining the LIV Golf League is a matter when not if. And when you hear the rumors of how much money they're willing to give Matsuyama, you start to understand why.
Rumors have circulated that Matsuyama could be in for a payday of between $300-$400 million to join LIV Golf. That would make him the highest-paid golfer in LIV. I'm not sure I believe that amount, but that is what has been discussed in the media.

10 days ago, immediately following the British Open, oddsmakers began to price up odds for the next golfer to join LIV golf. This year's British Open Champ, Cam Smith, had the shortest odds with a 99% chance to leave.
As for Hideki Matsuyama, his odds to join LIV came in at -2000, implying a 95.24% chance he leaves.
Now, it's a waiting game. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the timing of the announcements. Earlier this week, we found out Bubba Watson is headed to LIV Golf. Maybe next week it'll be Hideki Matsuyama.
