Stanley Cup Game 2 Preview

Tampa has continued to prove that they can score the puck, both early and often, at home in the Amalie Arena throughout these 2021 playoffs. The Canadiens, who also suffered a 4-1 loss in Game 1 against the Vegas Golden Knights and eventually won Game 2, know which areas they need to improve upon in order to weather the Tampa scoring storm. Montreal was plagued by turnovers on Monday night, and recognized this in the postgame press conference.

Montreal can rely on their goalkeeper, Carey Price, who has been one of the best goalies this entire 2021 NHL season. Price was the 2014-2015 Vezina Trophy winner and has been one of the biggest storylines of the postseason. The five goals that Price gave up on Monday night are the most he has allowed in a game this postseason. The Canadiens will have to get past Price’s counterpart, Andrei Vasilevskiy, who was the 2018-2019 Vezina Trophy winner. Both teams have relied on their netminder’s for the whole playoffs.

Canadiens vs. Lightning Pick - Stanley Cup Game 2

  • Tampa +130 spread and the Over

Tampa has a 21-7-0 record at home this season, including a 7-3 home playoff record. We like the Bolts to cover the spread tonight because in all three home playoff loses at home this year, Tampa only lost by one goal in each game.

Our favorite FOX Bet boost

  • Nikita Kucherov to score a 3 or more points (incl. OT, No shootout) (from +450 to +550)

Kucherov, coming off a brutal crosscheck injury in Game 6 of the Islanders series, showed his offensive star power in Game 1. He finished with 2 goals and 1 assist (3 points) and came out aggressive early. In Game 5 of the New York series, the last game he played while fully healthy, Kucherov finished with 3 assists (3 points). He has racked up 30 points in games played this 2020-2021 playoffs. Kucherov is hot right now and will continue to rack up points in front of his home crowd on Wednesday night.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals Wednesday June 30th at 8pm EST on NBCSN and Peacock.
