NHL Western Conference Winner Odds: Can Anyone Takedown Colorado?

NHL Western Conference Winner Odds: Can Anyone Takedown Colorado?
The Colorado Avalanche are having their way with the NHL in 2022. They are 40-10-4 with 84 points. The next closest team to Colorado is Carolina with 79 but in the West, it's been essentially Colorado's show the entire way.
When looking at the playoff picture, which will soon be a much bigger storyline with the NHL trade deadline rapidly approaching, who if anyone will be able to beat the Colorado Avalanche come playoff time?
We'll take a look at the Western Conference winner odds and see what the oddsmakers think.

Colorado Avalanche +180 (Bet $100 to win $180)
+180 or an implied chance of 35.71 percent to win a conference is pretty impressive. Looking at this team though I don't know how you can possibly say that they aren't the best team in the sport by a country mile. They have 218 goals on the year which is tied for first and they have the ninth fewest goals allowed on the year.
They have five players at over a point per game on the season, Nazem Kardi and Mikko Rantanen are over 60 points already and they have a 23-year-old defenseman with 18 goals. 18 goals from the blue line!
How can we forget, Darcy Kuemper has a .919 save percentage and 2.47 goals against average for the Av's this year. They have the explosive offense, the studs on defense, and their play in net from their goalie is excellent. It's going to be insanely difficult for anyone to beat them in a seven-game series.
Vegas Golden Knights +500 (Bet $100 to win $500)
Now Vegas is an interesting one. Keep in mind, this is the team that bounced Colorado in the second round of the playoffs last year. Colorado knows that they have to make it past Vegas at some point and they've been up to the test so far.
Chandler Stephenson and Jonathan Marchessault have been leading the way for the Golden KNnghts this year with Mark Stone on the shelf right now. They've managed to stay afloat without their captain but finally being able to add Jack Eichel to the lineup will surely help them out. He has just six games under his belt so far this year but has four points in those games.
In net, Robin Lehner has been uncharacteristically poor with a .907 save percentage and a 2.81 goals against average. He is going to have to drastically improve if Vegas wants a shot at making it out of the West.
Calgary Flames +700 (Bet $100 to win $700)
I don't think anyone anticipated the Calgary Flames being this good this year. They are seventh in the league in goals and are first in goals allowed with only 125 goals so far this season.
Johnny Gaudreau has been playing out of his mind with 67 points (20 goals, 47 assists) so far this year and the big story has been their goalie. Jacob Markstrom has a .927 save percentage and a 2.10 goals against average with a whopping eight shutouts on the year.
After kicking around in Vancouver as their starter for a few years he's really taken his game to the next level this year in his age 32 season. If they go on a run, it will be because he gets hot come playoff time.
Bet $10, Win $200 If Your Team Scores a Goal
Minnesota Wild +1000 (Bet $100 to win $1000)
Krill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello have been leading the way for the Wild this year. How about a 34-year-old Zucc at over a point per game, he's been insanely impressive this year for the Wild.
The Wild score a ton, they're fourth in the league in goals but their goalie play has been inconsistent. Cam Talbot and Kaapo Kahkonen split time but neither has been truly impressive as they combine for a .912 save percentage and 2.86 goals against average.
They are going to need one of them to establish themselves and get hot before the playoffs in order for me to consider them a real threat out of the Western Conference.
