Vezina Trophy Odds: Igor Shesterkin Still Given an 80% Chance to Win Despite Cold Streak
Since coming over from the KHL, Igor Shesterkin has been a phenomenal replacement for Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist in 2012, won the Vezina Trophy and finished top-three for the award four other times. It feels like Igor Shesterkin is going to win it for the Rangers this year with his play.

Vezina Trophy Odds
Name | Odds |
---|---|
Igor Shesterkin | -400 |
Jacob Markstrom | +600 |
Frederik Anderson | +1000 |
Juuse Saros | +2000 |
Andrei Vasilevskiy | +2500 |
Sergei Bobrovsky | +2500 |
The next closes behind Igor Shesterkin is Jacob Markstrom at +600. Markstrom has a .925 save percentage and a 2.16 goals against average. They're excellent numbers but not quite at the same level as Shesterkin.
Igor leads the league with a .936 save percentage and has a 2.11 goals against average to go with that. He is also the lead leaguer in GA%- and GSAA despite his recent struggles.

Over Shesterkin's last six starts, he is 3-3 with a .888 save percentage. In three of those starts, he's allowed four goals or more. That's unlike Igor who has five shutouts and has allowed one goal or less in 19 of his 43 starts. That's insane.
As I stated, for example with Jacob Markstrom, there has been great goalie play in the NHL this year but none to the caliber of Shesterkin. It's going to have to take a putrid April for someone other than Igor Shesterkin to take home the Vezina Trophy.
