Stanley Cup Odds: Avalanche Given a 74% Chance to Win the Cup After Game 1 Win

Game 1 of the Stanely Cup Final between the Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning absolutely lived up to the hype. Colorado went up 3-1 after the first period but the Tampa Lightning, in typical Lightning fashion, fought back to tie the game up at three to force overtime.

In the overtime period, Andre Burakovsky scored just 1:23 into the period to give the Av's a 1-0 series lead. Let's look at the updated Stanley Cup odds after the first game of the series.

Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup Odds -285 (Bet $285 to win $100)

After taking the first game, the Colorado Avalanche Stanley Cup odds dramatically changed. They are given a 74% chance of winning the cup after the first game of the series. All year long Colorado has been one of the favorites and with the offensive firepower, it's easy to see why that is.

They've played just 15 playoff games and have four players at 19 or more points, If you include Nazem Kadri (14 points in 13 games) they have five players who are a point per game or better.

Tampa Bay Lightning Stanley Cup Odds +230 (Bet $100 to win $230)

Please don't count out the Lightning. They were just down 2-0 in their last series against the New York Rangers and even found themselves down 2-0 in Game 3 before they came back and won and then rattled off four wins in a row to advance to their third Stanley Cup in a row.

This is the two-time defending champions we're talking about. Don't expect them to roll over and die. Colorado very well could win this series but this one is by no means over, so if you happen to like Tampa perhaps now is the time to get them after dropping Game 1.
