Matthew Tkachuk Next Team Odds: Devils, Blues, and More Linked to Star Winger

Free Agency has begun to quiet down in the NHL but that doesn't mean that there aren't moves to be made. Star winger for the Calgary Flames, Matthew Tkachuk is poised to be traded as the two sides are unable or unwilling to come to a long-term contract extension.

For Tkachuk, he will likely fetch Calgary a hefty return of picks and prospects as the 24-year-old is coming off a 42-goal and 104-point season. To put it mildly, those kinds of players just don't become available very often.

Let's take a look at his most likely trade destinations. Here's the Matthew Tkachuk next team odds.

Devils +400 (Bet $100 to win $400)

The New Jersey Devils came up empty in their pursuit of Johnny Gaudreau at the start of free agency. While they whiffed there, they can make up for it by trading for his former teammate. The Devils very clearly are in the part of their rebuild where they are trying to add talent to their roster.

They added Ondrej Palat in free agency who is a proven winner from Tampa Bay and a solid middle-six winger. Up top, they have two youngsters in Nico Hischier and Jack Hughes which could make for a lethal combination when accompanied with a good winger. They are just missing that pop from a winger. An addition of Tkachuk would make the Devils one of the youngest and most exciting teams in teams in the league.

Blues +450 (Bet $100 to win $450)

St. Louis is given the next best odds to add the star winger. They have just $625,000 in cap space so they would have to make some decisions after that, like possibly trading Vladimir Tarasenko. If they want to get younger, something their forward group really isn't outside of Robert Thomas, then an addition of Matthew Tkachuk could do just that.

They already lost David Perron in free agency so this team will likely have a little bit of a face lift. Things change quickly in the NHL and that 2019 core is slowly dissipating but an influx of young talent can help keep your window of contention open for a little bit longer.
