F1 Miami Grand Prix Odds: Will Max Verstappen Win Miami's First F1 Event?
When: May 8, 3:30 PM EDT
How to Watch: ABC/WatchESPN
Where: Miami International Autodrome, Miami, FL
F1 will make its 2022 debut in the United States this week, in Miami, FL will play host to the crypto.com Miami Grand Prix. With practice rounds getting started later in the week, the race goes off on Sunday for what should be one of the most high-profile sporting events this year.
Located at the Hard Rock Stadium inside the Miami International Autodrome, the stadium will hold ~80,000 people as the track will stretch 3.3 miles in total. With the cheapest tickets going for over $600, Miami’s first F1 event is already one of the most expensive tickets on the racing calendar just five months into 2022.Â
With no shortage of off-track luxuries for those in attendance, the on-track storylines offer no shortage of interest themselves. Four weeks into the 2022 season, all-time race winner Lewis Hamilton has yet to find the winner’s circle, currently in 7th place in the drivers' standings and sinking fast.Â
Will this finally be the race the Mercedes-backed superstar gets back on track? Or will Ferrari’s 24-year-old Charles Leclerc continue his dominance with a third win in five races? What about reigning-champion Max Verstappen whose all of a sudden just 27 points behind Leclerc in the standings?
Let’s take a closer look.Â

The only new track on the F1 calendar this year, the Miami International Autodrome most similarly compares to Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Corniche Circuit which allows cars to hit a top speed of 198mph (320km/h). Already winning that event a few weeks ago, I like for Verstappen to get it done once again here in Miami.Â
Two weeks ago in Italy (previous event), Verstappen put the sport on notice why is the returning champion with a dominant Friday-Saturday-Sunday performance. After taking pole positioning on Friday, he won Saturday’s sprint race before claiming the fastest recorded lap in a Sunday win.Â

Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez also found the podium, out-dueling Charles Leclerc to finish second; Red Bulls' first 1-2 finish since the 2016 season. After a slow start in part due to offseason car adjustments that took a while to become acquainted with, team Red Bull is on fire, having one of their drivers finish 1st or 2nd in three straight races.Â
As for Verstappen himself, the winner's circle in two of the past three races could very well be just the beginning for a proven winner, separating himself each week from last year’s rival Lewis Hamilton. In what will be a new track and environment for everyone, I’ll gladly take the most skilled driver in the field at nearly even money.
