EURO 2020 Odds: Following Win Over Croatia, England 2nd Favorite to Win EURO 2020

Sunday was a massive day for England soccer. For the first time in the history of the European Football Championship, England won their opening game, defeating Croatia 1-0. Other than a few miscues, Sunday’s first game went about as well as England could have expected, especially when it comes to EURO 2020 odds.

Obviously, the win sent a starving nation into pandemonium for a couple of reasons. One, they had never won their opening game of EURO. Two, the country has been waiting for success on the international level for quite some time. And three, they’ve become somewhat conditioned to expect disappointments on the national stage and a team that came in with a lot of hype lived up to it.

The win not only boosted confidence of the fans and player, but the oddsmakers as well. Following their win over Croatia, the EURO 2020 odds have officially inserted England as the second favorite to win the tournament, behind only France.

EURO 2020 Odds

There are tons of really strong teams in EURO 2020. Some commentators have even noted than they think the UEFA European Football Championship may be more difficult to win than the World Cup. After all, six of the top seven teams in the world are European.

But, out of all the strong teams participating in EURO 2020, there is one that stick out above the rest and that’s France. France has an embarrassment of riches on the pitch, led by world-class forward Kylian Mbappe, but it doesn’t stop there with Paul Pogba, Karim Benzema, Antoine Griezmann and N’Golo Kante.

France is the favorite at +450 to win EURO 2020. Meanwhile, England’s +600 odds make them the second favorite, followed by Belgium at +650 and Italy at +700.

EURO 2020 – England vs. Croatia

England came out fast in their opening EURO 2020 game and it almost led to an early goal that would have sent Wembley Stadium into hysteria.

In the 7th minute, after somewhat continuous pressure from England to start the game, Phil Foden got the ball, created some space and let go of a beautiful curling strike from just inside the box. The shot beat the goaltender but struck the inside of the far post and bounced out, squandering an early chance.

The game was back and forth from there until Raheem Sterling, who was somewhat of a controversial choice for the team, came through and scored the deciding goal in the 61st minute, giving England the win.
