Women’s Olympic Soccer Odds: USWNT Slight Favorites Over Netherlands in Quarterfinals
The United States Women’s National Soccer Team limped through play in Group G, earning a 1-1-1 record throughout their first three games in Tokyo. As a result, the defending World Cup Champions could very well be eliminated in the quarterfinals for the second time in as many Olympic games. They are favored to defeat Netherlands, according to the latest USA vs. Netherlands odds, but just slightly.
If the United States had won its group, they would have drawn Japan in the opening round of the Knockout Stage. Japan is a solid team, but they are ranked No. 10 in the world. Instead, The USWNT draws Netherlands the No. 4 team in the world and their opponent in the 2019 World Cup Final.
If the United States is going to come home with a gold medal, as so many expected they would, they’ll need to turn around their play immediately. A loss to Netherlands on Friday and they’ll be headed home early from the Olympics, again.

Olympic Women’s Soccer Odds: USA vs. Netherlands
Team USA should be able to beat Netherlands on Friday in the opening round of the Knockout Stage. They defeated them 2-0 in the 2019 World Cup Final and are the better team on paper. But they also shouldn’t have lost to Sweden and tied Australia in the Group Stage, so who knows?
Netherlands won Group F, finishing 2-1 with a +13 goal differential. Games against China and Xambia certainly helped, but they tied a great Brazilian team as well. As for the United States, they were 1-1-1 with a +2 goal differential thanks to a 3-0 loss to Sweden in their opening game of the 2021 Olympic Games
United States 2021 Olympics Results: Sweden 3, United States 0; United States 6, New Zealand 1; United States 0, Australia 0.
Netherlands 2021 Olympics Results: Netherlands 10, Zambia 3; Netherlands 3, Brazil 3; Netherlands 8, China 2
Due to their slow play and the strong play from the Netherlands, the USWNT is favored, but just slightly. The United States, which came into the Olympics as odds-on favorites to win gold at -165 is +140 to beat Netherlands in the Olympic quarterfinals.
Netherlands odds to defeat the United States sit at +195 and a draw, which would be followed by penalty kicks in the knockout stage.
The winner of Friday’s USA vs. Netherlands game plays the winner of the Canada vs. Brazil quarterfinal.
