Next Manchester United Manager Odds: A Shock New Name Is Betting Favorite
It took Manchester United a long time to finally part company with previous manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and they’re certainly not moving fast in finding his replacement either. The Man United board have already announced that an interim coach will take over until the end of the season before appointing a new long-term successor to Solksjaer. But, who is that successor likely to be?
When the next Manchester United manager odds market was formed after Solskjaer’s exit, there was a familiar name to EPL fans at the top of the board; former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino. The current PSG coach has long been linked to Old Trafford and he was reportedly the number 1 target for the Man United exec’s.
The Argentine coach was wagered in to as a short as 1/5 (-500) with UK bookmakers just a number of days ago, but the market has been turned on its head in recent hours.
Pochettino is still one of the favorites in the next Manchester United manager odds list, but his odds have drifted a long way since he was the 1/5 favorite, with the current odds listed at 7/2 (+350).
The new name now at the top of the board in the next Manchester United manager odds market and the new betting favorite is Ernesto Valverde. You may not have heard of Valverde before, but he’s a highly respected coach in Europe, having previously managed Spanish giants Barcelona. The Spaniard has had much success not just in La Liga with Espanyol, Valencia and Atheltic Bilbao, but also in Greece with Olympiakos. It’s been reported that he’s been approached to be the interim coach by the United board and bookmakers in the UK presumably think that if he impresses in that role through to the end of the season, he’s a likely candidate to get the job in a full time capacity!
