USA vs. Mexico Odds: Oddsmakers Give USMNT Just 22.2% Chance to Win
When: March 24, 10:00 PM EDT
Where: Estadio Azteca, Mexico City, Mexico
The infamous Estadio Azteca will play host to one of the most critical Mexico/United States matchups in recent years, as both teams sit tied for #2 in Qatar’s World Cup qualifying.
Located at 7,800 feet above sea level, the altitude is always an issue here in Mexico City and is something new USA head coach Gregg Berhalter, especially, will have to manage effectively.
Currently tied with 21 points, Panama trails just behind with 17 and a win here would put both teams one win away from securing a spot. With just three matches remaining for each team, let’s take a look at both as they enter tonight.

Mexico (6-2-3)
Unbeaten in their previous four World Cup qualifiers, Mexico will face their toughest test this year against an American team that has won three of their past four. Like the United States, Mexico will be dealing with a host of losses due to injury themselves, losing goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco and midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro for this game.
Led by head coach Tata Martino, El Tri are up against in qualifying and will be desperate for a win tonight in front of their home, and raucous, crowd.
United States (6-2-3)
A World Cup qualifier win for the United States at Azteca would be their first-ever, as they’ve struggled to get over the hump in winning at this altitude and environment. The challenge will be even tougher this time around, as they will be without key players Matt Turner, Weston McKennie, Sergiño Dest, and Brenden Aaronson due to various injuries.
They will, however, have their ace in Christian Pulisic, a now elite European-level professional who can change the game at a moment’s notice. Tim Weigh will compliment him on the right side and should provide the United States offense a much-needed spark of dynamics.
