Champions League Odds: PSG Now Third Favorite Following Win Over Barcelona
After a surprisingly rough group stage, PSG dominated Barcelona at Camp Nou in the first leg of their Round of 16 matchup. That win has their Champions League futures surging, as they’re now given the third-best odds to win the world’s most prestigious cup.
PSG hasn’t had a great season. They’re second in the Ligue 1 standings, threatening to end their three-year run at the top of the French league. It would be on the second time since the 2012-2013 season that PSG hasn’t won Ligue 1.
Those troubles carried themselves into the Champions League. PSG managed to win their group, but it took goal difference, as they tied Germany’s RB Leipzig with 12 points at the top of the table. Those 12 points were also the second-lowest total for a group winner this year.
It was really easy for bettors and oddsmakers to fall off the perennial contenders. That said, it took just one strong performance for all those doubts to be shattered. With their 4-1 road win against Barcelona at Camp Nou, PSG is back among the favorites to win the UCL.
In fact, they’re now the oddsmakers’ third favorite to win the Champions League, with Bet365 offering +550 odds. Only Manchester City (+300) and Bayern Munich (+375), both of whom haven’t played the first leg of their round of 16 match yet, have shorter odds.
Only time will tell if the love for PSG is short-lived. It’ll only take one run of bad form or a tough draw in the quarterfinals, if they make it that far, for everything to change. For now, though, PSG is the apple of the oddsmakers’ eyes, as their odds continue to surge.
