Champions League Odds: Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea Dominate The Betting

The English Premier League has put out only two Champions League winners in the last decade, Liverpool in 2018-2019 and Chelsea in 2011-2012. That’s the same number of winners as the Bundesliga and four less than La Liga.

That isn’t stopping bettors from hammering EPL teams. The top three bettors’ favorites are all EPL teams. Those three teams make up 39% of the total bets cast in the last four days.

Man City Champions League Odds

Man City is the current oddsmakers and bettors’ favorite to win the Champions League. The current EPL leaders have been in top form this season. They dominated their group stage taking home 16 points, tying Bayern Munich for the most of any group winner.

They were fortunate to draw Borussia Monchengladbach in the round of 16. The Bundesliga squad squeaked into the round of 16 on goal difference and currently sit 8th in the Bundesliga table.

Man City’s domination coupled with a seemingly easy draw are major reasons why oddsmakers have them at +300 to win the Champions League. Meanwhile, bettors have placed 15% of their total bets the past four days on Man City winning the competition.

Liverpool Champions League Odds

It has been a rough season for Liverpool at home. The reigning EPL champions are currently sixth on the EPL table and have lost four in a row in the EPL.

That hasn’t stopped them from dominating the Champions League. The 2018-2019 Champions League winners won their group with 13 points, then drew RB Leipzig in the round of 16. A tough opponent, but one Liverpool looks comfortable against.

In the first leg of their round of 16 draw, Liverpool defeated Leipzig 2-0 on the road. That sets up Liverpool well heading into the second leg.

With Liverpool looking a safe bet to qualify for the quarterfinals, their odds to win the Champions League look good. They’re currently the oddsmakers’ fourth favorite at +650. They’re tied for bettors’ second favorite garnering 12% of the bet over the last four days.

Chelsea Champions League Odds

Chelsea also hasn’t had the best run of form at home this season. The blues are sitting fifth in the EPL standings. However, their form has been picking up, as Chelsea hasn’t lost a match in any competition since January 19.

Chelsea has yet to drop a game in the Champions League, earning 14 points in the group stage. They have an incredibly challenging round of 16 matchup against Atletico Madrid.

That’s scared off oddsmakers, who now have Chelsea as their seventh favorite at +1800. Those are worse odds than Atletico’s +1500. The same isn’t true for bettors. Chelsea is tied for second with 12% of total bets to win the Champions League in the last four days.
